Searching the Crowd

A few weeks ago, my kids had a PTO performance at their school. My daughter was feeling nervous about the performance because, in her words, she had “crowd fright.” I watched her walk on stage, and I could see her eyes searching the crowd for the familiar faces of her family in the audience. I could see her searching, but she couldn’t see me. Then she spotted us, and I saw the immediate shift in her demeanor – she found the faces she was looking for in a sea of people, and she felt comfort in a moment of fear.

In the weeks since the performance, God has placed this moment on my mind repeatedly.

It is such a simple reminder to search for God in moments of fear.

I can picture God sitting on His throne, watching and waiting as we search for comfort – as we search for Him. The feeling of instant peace and comfort we feel in finding Him is unmatchable.

Our Father in Heaven is watching us and waiting for us to turn our eyes to Him. He never takes His gaze off us. He is always there – in every emotion we may be feeling. And isn’t that the greatest comfort of all?
